I started working on the air conditioning of the SM IE, see that here. This work gave me the opportunity to take pictures of the under body when the car was on a lift, go to the body section.

In the hydraulics section, for the SM IE again, the adjustment of the rear height.

New link to Phil Caron's website.

June 21, 2008

I sold my 2CV. As I knew, I already miss her, but I can't keep everything and she'll make room for a new coming car, if everything goes as planned. So this site currently dedicated to Citroën cars will soon present you an "intruder", but you'll see that this car is as mythic as the SM and 2CV ;-)

I replaced the injection wiring harness on the SM IE but it caused a big problem, which almost jeopardized my participation to the Saratoga Springs annual Rendezvous. Read the story in the drivetrain section.

I didn't create a page about the meeting in Saratoga because Othello did an excellent one on his site, here (in french but many pictures). Yes, I'm quite lazy ;-)

I don't forget my other SM, I heard about 2 front fenders, but nothing has been decided yet and I need to inspect them before declaring victory

You'll now see the publication date of each section in this site, for an easier follow-up. I thought that events were sometimes not so easy to follow, so here is a step in the right direction. On each update, links indicated on the present news page will bring you directly to the section of the page that has just been updated (I even modified some existing links to work that way). Here is an additional step forward, I believe.

May 12, 2008

I finally got the missing fenders and the left door of the SM. But of course, there are some problems, it won't be funny otherwise ;-) Go to the body section.

Replacement of the rear suspension boots on the SM IE, who is now out of its winter storage and now in my garage. Go to the hydraulics section.

March 27, 2008

New link added to Charlotte's blog, "unefilleensm" and reorganization of the links page.

March 26, 2008

With quite a big delay, some pictures of a small work done this past fall on the engine of the '72 SM, here.

New links added to the "Citron-Collection" and "Citro Rouge et Vert" forum sites. Address update for the link to the Euro SM Club site.

March 8, 2008

Some news about the body work on the '72 SM, here.

December 30, 2007

Finally, I'm done with the translation work, this site is now entirely bilingual, even if my english, let's say, "could be improved" ;-)

So the hydraulics, interior and miscellaneous sections of the '72 SM restoration are now available in english.

I wish you a happy new year and enjoy your classic cars!

November 25, 2007

With a huge delay, here are some details about the intervention of my mechanic on the SM IE last September, it's about valve adjustment and annoying suspension noise and it's in the drivetrain section.

Also, the body and drivetrain sections of the '72 SM restoration are now available in english.

October 15, 2007

Big improvement of this site: when you click on a thumbnail picture to view it in actual size, instead of displaying a page with the picture it's now a popup window that displays it. It's nicer, more "high tech" and it facilitates the navigation, avoiding to reload the page after viewing a picture.

Thanks to Christian, DS enthusiast and web site designer, for this very interesting trick.

October 13, 2007

The "SM IE" section is now available in english, it's here.

September 30, 2007

All classic Citroën enthusiasts don't speak french, so I finally started to translate this site in english. Here are the first results of my translation work, the main pages and the 2CV section. The other sections will be available in a few weeks.

If you want to help improving the english content of this site, you can contact me to indicate the errors you can find (make a list, there are plenty for sure ;-))

August 20, 2007

I didn't make any update for almost two months, sorry, here are some news.

I gave the two front fenders and the passenger door of the '72 SM to a sheet metal specialist, who will mainly search for some in a better condition, or estimate how much it could cost to savage them. I also gave to the same specialist the lower rear bumper of the SM IE because I bent it while maneuvering in the tight garage where I rent some spaces. While waiting for the this one to be repaired, I fitted the bumper of the '72 SM, which is not too bad. By the way, I'm searching for a better parking space.

The SM IE works quite well but I still hear an annoying noise from the front suspension while driving. Some pictures of a failed attempt to fix this problem in the drivetrain section.

On the SM IE again, I fitted a nice licence plate where the original French one was on the front. Some pictures in the miscellaneous section.

June 17, 2007

My 2CV is for sale. Since I have the SM IE, I wonder if I should and can keep the 2CV but finally I decided to sell it, or at least try to.

My SM IE has been noticed at the Saratoga Springs meeting. Some details and pictures in the miscellaneous section.

May26, 2007

I checked the timing chains tension on the SM IE. Some pictures and details in the drivetrain section.

May 15, 2007

The SM IE passed the mechanical inspection last week. The roads from Québec are now officially opened for her. Details in the newly created miscellaneous section.

But the inspection is only the official part, there is still work to do on this car, like on the hydraulic circuit, also a new section.

April 29, 2007

I was waiting to put back the front lower covering and install the RR rims to make some pictures of the SM exterior, that's now done, so the body section is now available.

April 26, 2007

I made again some pictures of the SM IE interior to replace the ugly ones I made yesterday.

I ordered 4 Pirelli P4000 tires that I will mount on the RR rims and install on the SM IE. I can't wait to see the result.

April 25, 2007

The sections dedicated to the SM IE are coming one by one. Today I finally took some pictures of the interior.

I confirmed that the lower rear suspension buffers are not there. It certainly explains why the rear wheels are touching the wheel arch when in lower position.

April 23, 2007

Result of a few days of work on the cooling circuit of the SM IE. That's here.

April 10, 2007

A little update to thank a visitor of this site who offered me a spare wheel cover for the '72 SM. See that in the miscellaneous section, in the "missing parts" paragraph.

April 8, 2007

I went to pick-up the SM IE this friday. Here is the last part of its trip.

March 16, 2007

A tiny update. I went to see how the 2CV was and I took some pictures of the parking space where she rests during the winter, it's here.

January 22, 2007

The SM IE finally arrived, but this arrival has been an adventure. The story of the journey of this car from France to Canada is so chaotic that I created a page to tell it, it's here.

January 20, 2007

Some good news: the engine work is over (see the drivetrain section), I received a lot of new parts, got back some zinc plated and chrome plated parts (see the miscellaneous section), and the SM IE is finally back in Montreal (see the SM IE home page), I will be able to get it in a few days.

December 10, 2006

The engine work finally begun on the '72 SM. Some news in the drivetrain section.

November 27, 2006

Some news about my search for doors and fenders for the '72 SM, in the body section.

November 15, 2006

Bad news about the SM IE. Its arrival is delayed. Some explanations on the home page dedicated to this car.

November 6, 2006

A second SM will soon arrive in my little "collection". I'm like a kid waiting for his Christmas gift ;-)

New layout for this site, to present this new car. Not so many information for the moment, but a first presentation here anyway.

October 8, 2006

A little mechanical work on the 2CV: replacement of the heating ducts. See more in the drivetrain section.

August 31, 2006

I didn't work so much on the SM this summer but there is some news anyway in the body section, for which I created a second page.

June 23, 2006

I'm the happy new owner of a 2CV! She's in excellent shape, so this one is not for restoration but for driving and taking part to meetings from various clubs.

For this new arrival, I updated the layout of this site because it now "hosts" two cars.

May 5, 2006

Some pictures of a few defects discovered on the body. An update of the pictures showing my workshop, after a little reorganization, and a work progress update in the drivetrain, hydraulics and miscellaneous sections.

I took benefit of a few days off to take the engine to the specialist who will be in charge of its overhaul. The main concern is the distribution, to be overhauled, but everything else will be inspected. I hope it won't be too long and it won't bring too much bad news.

I have a new digital camera, so the pictures I take should now be better, it's good news ;-)

March 21, 2006

The body is here. A small step for man kind but a big one for this restoration !

February 9, 2006

Some pictures of the body waiting in Marseille for its shipment.

January 6, 2006

Some news of the body, still in France but now ready for departure.

December 22, 2005

I begin painting. See the miscellaneous section.

October 18, 2005

Some news about the engine, now cleaner and ready for the specialist to start working on.

October 4, 2005

Beginning of the hydraulics work. Brake discs and calipers are back, in the drivetrain section.

August 28, 2005

I made my garage shine. See pictures in the miscellaneous section.

August 22, 2005

Again some pictures of the body work, almost done.

July 13, 2005

Some news about the drivetrain, more pictures about the body work in progress and a little presentation of the zinc plating (misc section).

May 9, 2005

First pictures of the body restoration.

March 23, 2005

Pictures of the body for sale in the Montreal area and pictures of the clean engine.

February 10, 2005

Now I have space so I added pictures almost everywhere and I added details for each restoration section.

December 8, 2004

I found a solution to my hosting problem. This site is now hosted by a friend of mine whose nickname is "Patchou". Thanks Cyril.

May 17, 2004

Disassembling is over !! In fact everything I can do myself is over. I still have to call a pro to remove the windshield, unless I take a chance to do it myself...

Great news: my father found a SM body in France... see some pictures in the body section.

Bad news: I reached the tiny space limit of the free hosting plan included with my Internet access. I'll have to find a better solution.

February 2, 2004

Still disassembling. The body is not entirely "naked" but I made good progress during the past weeks.

But as I'm progressing, I'm thinking that it would not be reasonable to try saving this body. I perhaps have an opportunity, a supposed good body, so replacing would probably be the best solution.

November 27, 2003

I added a characteristics list on the home page. I updated the restoration program and added progress information in each section.

October 5, 2003

No significant progress for a few weeks now, other tasks are taking me out of this restoration. I made a little update anyway (some details added in a few sections and some modifications done for the site referencing).

August 10, 2003

I'm scraping, cleaning, sanding... it's not so interesting but it has to be done. I currently work on the rear compartment and the under body.

July 22, 2003

Compressions measurement showed encouraging numbers. All cylinders are between 900 and 950 kPa, for a normal value of 900 kPa.

The engine always starts very well.

July 9, 2003

The engine finally runs !

July 3, 2003

I changed the fuel lines, to avoid a fire and because I found a leak. Now it seems ok.

I have quite a few problems with the ignition. It doesn't start for the moment.

June 21, 2003

Disassembling is in progress. The current goal is making the engine run again to begin a general mechanical diagnostic.

June 17, 2003

Here she is, in my garage !

There is more damage than I thought under the body, but it's probably only the beginning of bad news.

Let's go !

June 9, 2003

I arrange a deal with the seller, about the price of course, but also the delivery conditions because the car has to be shipped by truck.

June 6, 2003

After about three weeks, the car is still in Vermont. I decide to go there to see it, it's a one hour and a half drive from Montreal.

May, 2003

I discover a classified add on the website of a classic car club from Québec. I contact the seller. He tells me that he's not the owner of the car, he only "hosts" the car in his vacation home in Vermont (United States). He also tells me that the car will be back in Montreal in a few days.

I cannot have detailed information about the vehicle because the seller knows almost nothing about it.
